Prairie View A&M University: Urban Agriculture Development Grant - Deadline Aug. 1

For Profit Farmers, Non-Profit Agriculture Serving Organizations , and Churches are invited to apply for CEP assistance with the following key conservation objectives: 

1. Provide learning experiences in natural resources conservation to communities. 

2. Address food deserts. 

3. Create farming projects that develop properties into vegetable and fruit
production sites. 

4. Improve access to healthy, affordable food at a local level. 

5. Water conservation. 

6. Increase pollinator habitat.
7. Leverage non-federal resources to achieve positive natural resources conservation outcomes 

Proposals will be accepted for projects located in Texas. CEP anticipates that the total amount awarded under this announcement in Federal fiscal year 2022 will be approximately $30,000. 

This opportunity is open to all for profit urban farm entities except schools, CBO, and non profits for competitive consideration of cooperative agreement awards for one year in duration.

Junior Master Naturalist Program: Registration - Deadline Aug. 1

Led by the city of Coppell's Biodiversity Education Center's educational staff and North Texas Master Naturalist volunteers, this program combines engaging classroom training with inspiring field-based discovery to help young people develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of Texas' ecosystems. Through hands-on explorations and outdoor adventures, students will gain the knowledge and skills to become a lover of nature and responsible steward of the environment.

Registration for the 2022 to 2023 Junior Master Naturalists program opens July 1 and closes Aug. 1, 2022. Register at www.coppellactivities.com. Space is limited.

Dallas Sierra Club: How to Protect Dallas Green Spaces - Dallas

Phillip Irwin, Chief Arborist for the City of Dallas, will discuss the Dallas Comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan (CECAP) to protect and enhance its Ecosystems, Trees, and Green Spaces, while answering the question, “How can a city legally protect its historical trees with City ordinances?”  

With the overall goal being to create environmental equity and equality in all Dallas neighborhoods, regardless of their socioeconomic situation, Mr. Erwin will share his expertise and experiences gleaned from his 23 years working in the field of the SW District of Dallas.
