NCTCOG: Dallas-Fort Worth Air Quality Improvement Plan Public Meetings - DFW (Jan-Feb)

The North Central Texas Council of Governments is developing the Dallas-Fort Worth Air Quality Improvement Plan with funding from the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve local air quality over the next five years. 

Public comment meetings regarding the air quality improvement plan will be held on Jan. 16 in Rockwall and Arlington, Jan. 18 in Fort Worth, Jan. 29 in Cleburne and Feb. 15 in Arlington. A virtual session will be held on Jan. 24. The public can also comment in an online survey.

These awards honor extraordinary volunteers, professionals, youth, educators, businesses, local/civic governments, organizations, and specific projects and programs. They are organized into two main categories, Individual Awards and Organizational Awards.

We need volunteers to help with cleaning up the stream at Camelot Park. Event leaders will provide trash bags and a few pickers. Please bring old gardening gloves, wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and shoes/boots that will get muddy and wet. If you have a litter grabber or a long-poled fishing net, please bring it with you to assist with picking up trash along or in the stream.

Bring water and a snack in case you need it.

Presentation: Infinite Power: Take Your Share of the Texas Sun (a statewide Campaign by the Texas Solar Energy Society)

Presenter: Patrice "Pete" Parsons, Executive Director, Texas Solar Energy Society (TXSES)

About Our Presentation: The Texas Solar Energy Society has kicked off a Statewide Campaign to double the amount of rooftop solar from 300,000 rooftops to 600,000 by 2035. The focus of the Campaign is to improve distributed energy policy at the state and local jurisdictions, and increase the adoption of virtual power plants, microgrids, and net zero subdivisions.

Hear more of Pete's take on possible 2025 legislation she hopes to promote and what she is currently tracking at the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). She will also talk about her progress with SolarApp+ and the current status on the TXSES/TEPRI (Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute) low to moderate rooftop solar program she hopes to take statewide later this year.
