Dallas County Health and Human Services: Community Garden Mini-Grants - Application Deadline Aug. 10

The Dallas County Health and Human Services Community Garden Program is offering a fourth round of mini-grants for eligible community gardens operating in select zip codes within the Dallas County service area.  

Any interested garden meeting the eligibility criteria outlined in the  application guidelines should complete the application form.

The deadline for submitting the completed application form and all relevant attachments is Aug. 10, 2023. 

A virtual mini-grant Information Session for all interested applicants is available on Monday, July 31, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

To be eligible for funding, applicants are required to attend a Pre-Application Community Garden Training, provided at no cost to the applicant in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.

Training dates will be announced at a later date. Those who already have taken applicable trainings within the 12 months or who provide proof of trainings completed from another accepted entity are not required to take a training anew.

Applications may be submitted online by visiting the DCHHS Chronic Disease Prevention Division webpage .

Greenspace Dallas: Wildwood Drive LB Houston Cleanup - Dallas

Our LB Houston trail restoration work is now on the Wildwood side of the park!! We will be clearing privet (an invasive plant) and picking up trash throughout the trails. Bring your water bottle and stay hydrated.

'Wild DFW': A Wild Ride Through LLELA's Ecosystems - Lewisville

Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth, will share thoughts from her book about how Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area straddles the Eastern Cross Timbers and Blackland Prairie ecosystem and features a major riparian corridor along the Elm Fork of the Trinity. She’ll share which trails and the best times of year to experience these ecosystems. 

Include a special reading of Richard’s Wild Ride, a funny white-knuckle romp through prairie and riparian restorations edited from the book due to length constraints.
