PARTY TIME
To celebrate the Wild DFW's release, Martin is hosting three book signing parties starting next month, spanning three counties. You can meet Martin and some of the area naturalists and experts who provided consult and photos for the book.
“I’ll be doing lots of talks and walks, from naturalist nerdy to prosaic, showcasing material from the book," said Martin. "But these book release parties are just for fun. It’s a chance for the nature community to be with each other and share excitement on how Wild DFW might bring new people into the green fold. And to plan out hikes for when it’s much less hot.”
DALLAS: The first book release party will be held in Dallas at Vector Brewing on July 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 9850 Walnut Hill Lane, suite 405. Details.
FORT WORTH: The second book release party will be held in Fort Worth at Funky Picnic’s Back Room on Aug. 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 401 Bryan Ave, unit 117. Details.
DENTON COUNTY: The third party will be held in Lewisville at Thrive Nature Park (indoors) on Aug. 5.at, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1951 S. Valley Pkwy. Lewisville. Details.

Martin will also be presenting a flurry of talks and walks in the coming months. Amy has walked at most of the natural areas in North Texas. This is a great opportunity to listen to one of Martin's engaging talks and get tips from her on the trails.
The talks kick off July 18, at 6 p.m. at Interabang Books in Dallas with Jeff Brown, writer of the North Texas Trails blog.
The first walk will be held July 29, 8 p.m. at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas. The theme is "The Moon and Nature at Night."

ABOUT WILD DFW
Martin, a reporter for Green Source DFW since 2014, has explored and written about the North Texas nature scene for decades. After being tapped by Timber Press in 2019 to write a sequel to Wild LA, she toiled on the book for two years throughout the pandemic.
For her research, Martin walked hundreds of miles on North Texas trails, recruiting experts from Texas Parks and Wildlife, Botanical Research Institute of Texas, universities and nonprofit groups to guide and review her work. In the process, she developed a network of highly trained citizen naturalists in specialty fields.
The 370-page book features more than 350 color photos by area naturalists and more than 40 detailed maps by Martin’s husband, Scooter Smith. The comprehensive guide book is a must-have resource for North Texas nature lovers, eco-tourists and local ecological history buffs.
