Description of Individual or organization

Anne Alderfer has been a key volunteer and board member of Friends of Tandy Hills Natural for several years. She has been the DIrector of the Kids on the Prairie program since 2011 and is intimately involved in all our programs including the 2016 BioBlitz and Prairie Fest. She has also been a key volunteer at RIver Legacy Park and others for many years. Anne is also a Master Naturalists and serves as the current President of the Cross Timbers chapter.

Leadership (Nominee demonstrates leadership through example, knowledge, attitude)

Anne's many strengths include an ability to work well with all kinds of people of all ages and backgrounds. She will find common ground with others and use that for the greater good. Her knowledge of the natural world is vast and she shares it enthusiastically. She remains even-tempered, cheerful and involved even in difficult situations. Her attitude is infectious and inspiring.

Environmental Impact (Nominee demonstrates a positive impact on the local environment via policy change, product offering, significant volunteer contribution, or other achievement)

I can't think of a more vital impact on the environment than inspiring kids to become aware of and care about the natural world. That is exactly what Anne has done as director and organizer with the Kids on the Prairie program since 2011.

Community Impact (Nominee demonstrates commitment to DFW green community through involvement with causes, business ventures or organizations)

Anne is involved in several local environmental organizations as mentioned above. She does not shy away from commitment and does so with intelligence, warmth and ideas. She makes sure things get done right.

Other reasons for your nomination

Anne is the consummate volunteer. People like her are rare. Friends of Tandy HIlls, Cross Timers Master Naturalists and River Legacy Park are very fortunate to have Anne committed to their programs and for so many years.
