Lights Out Texas (March 1-June 15)

Mar 1 2022 - 11:00pm to Jun 15 2022 - 6:00am

Lights Out Texas is a campaign of education, awareness, and action that focuses on turning out lights at night during the spring and fall migrations to help protect the billions of migratory birds that fly over Texas annually.

Lights Out Texas advocates say darkening city skies is most crucial during spring migration's peak, from April 22 to around May 12.

Native Prairies Association of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: 4K River Ranch - Mineral Wells

Jun 4 2022 - 8:30am to 11:00am
Mineral Wells , TX

Our hosts, Kim and Kent Olson, have spent the past 10 years transforming a worn-out 83-acre peanut farm into beautiful gardens for wildlife, an organic orchard and a maturing prairie restoration. 100 percent of their water is captured rainfall and a solar array provides more than half the power for their Prairie-style home. Skip stones in the Brazos River, stroll beneath the gallery forest and watch for birds and butterflies as our hosts detail their journey to sustainable living.

We will meet at 8:30 in Mineral Wells at a location to be determined and caravan to the ranch. Participants should come prepared for an easy walk over uneven terrain. Weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen and water are all recommended. Afterwards we'll have lunch at a local restaurant for those who wish to continue our morning of fun and fellowship.

Reservations are required through Eventbrite. Suggested donation of $5.00 or any amount you wish to donate to assist NPAT with future programming & outreach events (plus Eventbrite processing fee).
