Conserving water outdoors can significantly lower our water bills and preserve this precious natural resource. It's time to learn some water saving gardening techniques such as the use of native plants, mulching beds, smaller turf areas and efficient irrigation techniques.

As our population grows, more of our natural lands are consumed by homes, streets and farmland. These natural lands have traditionally provided habitat for wildlife. Our home landscapes can continue to provide this valuable habitat if we refrain from bringing in exotic plant life that cannot sustain our native wildlife.

This presentation will focus on using native plants in landscapes – how to design your yard using native plants. Learn more about placing plants attractively and the forms of native plants.

Speaker Carol Feldman is a veteran landscape architect whose practice is focused on water conserving, sustainable landscapes. She has been an active member of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) for 25 years. Currently, she chairs the Steering Committee for the Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP).
