The Dallas-Fort Worth green community came out to celebrate North Texas’ green entrepreneurs when Green Source DFW hosted its 2012 Best Green Business awards this week. The reception was held Thursday, Nov. 13, at The People’s Last Stand in Dallas. About 50 people attended the event, which included drinks and hors d’oeuvres served by the Mockingbird Station bistro. One way to make sure adults know all the ins and outs of sustainability is by teaching these lessons early in life.Case in point, that is exactly what is happening at the Dallas County Juvenile Department’s Youth Village where young boys ages 13 to 17 have the opportunity to take organic gardening classes while also tending to 12 raised garden beds that are planted with herbs and vegetables several times a year.
Because people are becoming more and more mindful of eating healthy food, organic/green restaurants are on the move. However it is not clear what the many times self declared status means.
