Presentation: A Roadmap to School Bus Fleet Electrification: Texas and Beyond
Presenter: Jessica Keithan, founder and executive director, Texas Electric School Bus Project
Jessica graduated in 2009 from Rice University in Houston where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Visual Arts. She is passionate about the work she does and plans to use that passion to be a driving force behind the complete electrification of the Texas school bus fleet in her lifetime. As evidence of this enthusiasm, she founded the Electric School Bus Project in December, 2022 where she now serves as executive director.
The Texas Electric School Bus Project is a statewide initiative designed to help school districts transition away from diesel-powered fleets in favor of cleaner, more cost-effective electric buses. By providing access to funding, training and technical support, the project seeks to reduce harmful emissions, enhance public health and cut long-term operating costs for schools. As part of the broader goal to improve air quality and support sustainable transportation infrastructure, the project also supports the development of charging stations and fosters local partnerships to ensure the successful integration of electric buses across the state.
