See a prime example of an ancient Western Cross Timbers forest, with prairie openings. Slopes and ridges are covered in numerous Pennsylvanian strata with rocks and gravel at the surface. The topography is hilly, with elevations from 1,050 feet at the top of the hill along the ridge, to 920 feet at the lake.
