A discussion of the reptiles and amphibians found in the northern counties of the Blackland ecoregion. We will talk about their natural history and highlight some representative species, including salamanders, frogs, toads, turtles, lizards and snakes and the American alligator.

Michael Smith has a nearly lifelong fascination with reptiles and amphibians. He has volunteered and worked in museums and zoos (though his career is in psychology). He has spent many days in the field throughout Texas and  has written two books, Herping Texas and The Wild Lives of Reptiles and Amphibians.  Michael is a frequent presenter for herpetological societies, Master Naturalists chapters, and other conservation groups.
