Insects and spiders may not be dear to many of us, but they are the unsung heroes of most ecosystems. Join us as we take a snapshot of the local biodiversity of pollinators, decomposers, and pest controllers encountered at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. With changing environmental conditions and recent studies of their decline, learn simple actions we can do to support our invertebrate populations.

Laura Veloz is a naturalist scientist at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge who manages the outreach program and the wild educational ambassadors at this 3,600-acre park. After almost two decades of interpreting nature under many hats, Laura values the connections guests make when they explore, enjoy, and appreciate the natural world.
