Explore the astounding acreage and array of nature spaces that Denton County has to offer and its implications for nature tourism.

Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth, will share photos from the book about Denton County’s three major nature attractions from 2,600 to 3,700 acres: Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center, Ray Roberts Lake State Park and Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area.

A panel of Martin and Denton County nature enthusiasts will further discuss these spaces, plus other Denton County and nearby attractions, such as Bob Jones Nature Center, which sits amid 700 acres of Eastern Cross Timbers habitat along Grapevine Lake. Held by US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), it has over 20 miles of natural trails.

Lewisville Lake also has extensive natural trails through USACE land on its western flank. Significant nature entities just south of the county line include Colleyville Nature Center and Coppell Nature Park

After the talk, Elm Fork Master Naturalists will lead a hike in Thrive Nature Park.
