Laura Erickson will be speaking live (not recorded) about winter bird survival. Laura lives in northern Minnesota, where winter night temperatures frequently drop to below zero, occasionally reach 20 or 30 below, and once even dropped to 60 below. What adaptations do northern birds have that allow them to survive and even thrive in those harsh conditions? And how are milder winters already hurting such species as gray jays and great gray owls?
