Presenter: John Lingenfelder, board member of Texas Water Development Board's Region C Water Planning Group (and a member of the Dallas Sierra Club's Executive Committee), will give a brief history of how Texas came up with the idea of planning for water supply and demand decades into the future.
The sufficient supply of water in Texas is in serious question with the influx of people and industry that continues to “up” the requirement for more water than can currently be supplied. Existing plans to supply more water are an anathema to environmentalists who fear that construction of more reservoirs will have detrimental effects on the environment, flora & fauna, and on the displacement of people. Can a reasonable answer be found to this controversial issue?
