Liz McDaniel, also known as “Birdwoman” will tell stories about the birds we know so well, such as the woodpecker, the Cardinal and the Crow. Listen to her play on her cedar flute and tell the story of how the first flute came to the people.

After teaching elementary school for 34 years, she retired and spends her spare time storytelling and working with children. She is a Master Naturalist and volunteers at the Waco Wetlands and Ft. Parker State Park educating young people about the value of our natural resources. She has told stories at Mayborn Museum at Baylor University in the Native American exhibit, participated in the Waco Storytelling Guild’s annual storytelling event at the Oakwood Cemetery and more recently at the Confederate Reunion Grounds in Mexia, Texas.
