After a long pause, the City of Arlington has relaunched its community scientist program. Texas Stream Team is a statewide environmental education and volunteer-based water quality monitoring program run by The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University for 30+ years. Through TST, community scientists are trained to monitor water quality in our lakes and creeks by collecting and analyzing surface water at specific sites. The reports are then uploaded to a statewide database where problems may be detected and interventions designed by water professionals. The TST program serves to protect the 191,000 miles of Texas waterways through this network of local public-private environmental stewards.

Amesha Morris is a Senior Environmental Specialist with the Environmental Management Division, City of Arlington Public Works and Transportation Dept. She was an inspector with the Stormwater Administrator, City of McKinney. Amesha has a background in stormwater regulations for construction, industrial, illicit discharge detection, and water quality sampling. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in environmental science from the University of North Texas.
