On May 27, 2020, Dallas city leaders adopted the climate action plan to meet a commitment to the goals of the 2017 Paris Climate Agreement. Ms. Alvarez will provide a brief overview of the plan, the important roles that the community played in its development and implementation, and lessons learned.

Susan Alvarez, PE, CFM, is assistant director of the Dallas Office of Environmental Quality & Sustainability. She has a bachelor of science in civil engineering with a minor in geology from Rice University and postgraduate work in water resources. A Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and five other western states and a Certified Floodplain Manager and Master Naturalist in Texas, she brings over 40 years’ experience in civil and environmental planning, engineering and management for municipal, tribal, state and federal governments. She is currently focused on implementing Dallas' climate action plan, the Urban Forest Master Plan, the city’s participation in the City Business Climate Alliance and related efforts.
