Learn how to prepare and maintain your soil organically in order to grow native plants and your lawn. We will also cover garden installation of flagstone, boulders and other hardscape elements. A yearly maintenance checklist will be provided covering mulch, year end cleanup, shrub, tree and ornamental grass maintenance and irrigation. Class is geared for adults. FREE (with paid admission).

The Solar Car Challenge originated in 1993, and has been recognized by "Technology & Learning" as one of the top ten education programs in the country. Our program teaches high school students how to build roadworthy solar cars, and then provides a safe environment to race. NTREG members will participate in various aspects of the race and related activities.

The 2011 Solar Car Challenge is a
closed-track event held at the world famous Texas Motor Speedway. Come
share the fun... meet the kids and see their solar cars. For more

Class Description

We will learn to construct a beautiful, natural, earth friendly,
energy efficient home! Foundation, walls, windows, framing, and roof
construction will be taught. Natural plasters will also be covered as
well as poured adobe floors.

Costs: $250 for this 5-day Workshop. (Mail in payment by April 15th for a $25 discount.)

This includes breakfast & supper on the work days, camping fee, and all instruction needed to build a Straw Bale Structure.

Daily rate if you can't make the whole workshop is $60/day, which includes breakfast and supper.

Length of Time:  Workshop will last 5 days.  Depending on distance traveled 4-6 nights. 

The Cool House Tour offers insight into what we can
do to improve our homes' energy efficiency, and an opportunity to talk
directly with the home owners who did it .. how they did it .. and what
they might do differently.

Invasive species in the urban environment

Join us for a conversation about invasive plant and animal species: where
they came from, why they’re a problem, and what we can do to control them.

Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a hike on the trails to look for invasive species on
our property (before TRAC’s excellent volunteers completely eradicate them!)
