Earth Day Dallas hopes to catalyze a "green" movement in North Texas by staging a two-day event on April 22nd and 23rd over several city blocks in the Dallas Arts District.  We anticipate 500 civic, corporate and non-profit participants engaged in an event that will be the biggest and best Earth Day celebration in this part of the United States.  Sponsors currently include:

This will be the seminal event in an ongoing movement to showcase green business and civic efforts that improve North Texas and the lives of North Texans.  Events will focus on entertaining, inspiring and educating attendees with various ways to think, work and live green by showcasing emerging green technology and providing eco-friendly activities.

The Texas Food Policy Roundtable
is hosting "Farm to Capitol" on Friday, April 29 to brief legislators
and their staff on food policy issues in Texas.  In connection with the
event, FARFA will be holding its second citizens lobbying day from noon
to 5 pm. 

The event is an opportunity for farmers and
consumers from all over the state to come together to speak up for our
local food producers.
You will have the chance to learn about the
legislative process, meet legislators and their staff, and learn how to
be an activist in support of our food freedom.

Katy’s Picnic is an outdoor picnic and party at Reverchon Park in Dallas (3505 Maple Ave, 75201) for approx. 5,000 people featuring the annual 5k Run, Katy Kids Dash, live entertainment and food stations from Dallas’ best restaurants on Thursday, May 12, 2010, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event raises money for the completion and maintenance of the Katy Trail. The Katy Trail is Dallas’s most popular and important park and recreation facility, which runs through the heart of urban Dallas.

The North Texas Clean Air Coalition Let’s Do Lunch program is a monthly outreach event designed to educate employers about air quality issues including EPA standards, transit solutions, telecommuting and flex-time as well as designing energy conservation measures for their businesses and utilizing sustainable practices to reduce their impact on the environment. The NTCAC works in conjunction with the Founding Member Partners to provide information on clean air initiatives including facts and figures and what they mean for the region now and in the future.

Lakehill Preparatory School announces the third program in its Environmental
Summit speaker series, a free symposium for individuals interested in
environmental awareness and sustainability.

*The Next 100 Years: The Legacy of Litter at White Rock Lake*
A lively, interactive panel discussion that features provocative
photographs of debris created by human nature, contrasted with the
natural beauty of White Rock Lake. The photographs are currently on
display at the "Trashing Our Treasure" exhibit at the Bath House
Cultural Center. Other pertinent issues to be discussed include details
on litter impact research conducted by the nonprofit Shared Fuel and an
update on proposed legislation in Austin that supports bottle recycling
for plastics, aluminum, and glass.

Questions from the audience are encouraged. Panelists include Annemarie
Marek, BJ Ellis, and Patricia Leigh Allen.

The free event will be held at
the LEED certified Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center at
Lakehill's Roger L. Perry Campus, located at 7401 Ferguson Road, Dallas.
