This four-session introductory photography series guides students to progress beyond taking snapshots to creating photographs by focusing on composition, perspective and camera operation. We begin by exploring your camera’s capabilities and learn how to manually adjust for shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Students need to bring a camera and the camera manual. A digital SLR or compact camera with manual controls is essential for this class.

A staff artist will demonstrate watercolor techniques and simple sketching. These skills can help with nature journaling. If you have these, please bring: a sketchbook or paper for wet media, pencil, eraser, school grade watercolor paint and a small container for water. A pointed #10 paintbrush makes it easy to apply color. Paper, a few brushes, paint and other supplies will be available for use. Art experience helpful but is not necessary. This activity is geared for ages 14 +. Free (with paid admission).

An examination of the green-burial movement through the prism of lymphoma patient Clark Wang, who plans for his own green burial in the North Carolina woods with the help of his partner, Jane.

Big Bend is expansive park land in west Texas that is widely known and deeply loved by many. An REI instructor will share her first-hand knowledge of the park and give you the tips you will need to enjoy your time in the wilderness of Big Bend. Highlights of the class and the park include the Rio Grande River, wildlife, the Chisos mountains, Texas desert and stars that are big and bright. Free.

Bring your holiday cards to create beautiful flower mosaic masterpieces on canvas during this new adult program. Instruction, supplies and a tasty adult beverage will be provided. This month's featured drink is Spiked Jones, spiked hot chocolate/coffee. Wine and light appetizers will also be served. Instruction starts at 6 pm. Cost is $15 ($3 for an additional canvas). WHERE: Richland College Campus Labyrinth which is based on the classic pattern of the Chartres labyrinth, found in the thirteenth century French cathedral. This outdoor labyrinth combines stones and plants to outline the gravel path. The labyrinth is located next to Fannin Hall and parking lot V ( A few blocks east of Abrams off Walnut. Take the Richland East Drive and turn right into the first parking lot.)
