The North Texas chapter of System Change Not Climate Change (SCNCC) and the North Texas Transit Riders will be meeting to continue organizing efforts to democratize mass transit in the DFW metroplex for the purpose of finding a concrete way of reducing regional fossil fuel use and, at the same time, expand a much needed service in neighborhood/communities that have been denied adequate mass transit due to racism and class discrimination. Our specific focus will be on mobilizing oppostion to DART's fare hike. DART's final decision concerning the rate hikes is currently scheduled for Aug.

The annual Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards honors North Texas' green businesses, professionals, organizations, nonprofits and volunteers. 

This year's honorary speaker is Lee Stetson as John Muir.

Everyone deserves good health, safe water and a clean environment. Household cleaning products are the number one source of toxins in our homes. Cleaning is supposed to be about maintaining a healthy home. This class will teach you what you need to know about the topic of Green Cleaning: why it matters, how to do it, and being mindful of the way our everyday cleaning can affect our health and the health of our planet. $45. Vegetarian themed festival featuring food, speakers, cooking demos and vendors. Theme this year is: “Rock Your Health.”  The keynote speaker will be Aph Ko, a black vegan feminist theorist and independent digital media producer. Aph is the founder of Black Vegans Rock, a digital project devoted to spotlighting individual Black vegans. Free.

For January, we're heading back to Craft and Growler in Exposition Park (near Fair Park in Dallas). We had a great time during our last visit here - looking forward to another! Craft and Growler is next door to Pizza Lounge, so you can order vegan pizza for delivery, a nice little bonus!

During this session, attendees will gain an understanding on integrating the big picture of recent, game-changing studies that are revealing the power of indoor environmental quality and the impact on human performance. $35.

Cost of class is $60 and includes 6 hours of training. From 9 a.m. till noon, class instruction at Trinity Haymarket. From 1 to 4 p.m., field time hands on experience at apiary in Rowlett. Christi Baughman will be the instructor. The Beekeepers handbook 4th edition is recommended and can be purchased at Trinity Haymarket for $30.
