The program is part of the Dallas County Community College District's spring 2014 Clean Economy Series. Patrick Dickinson, program coordinator for Texas A&M AgriLife in Dallas, is the featured speaker. 

The morning workshop will provide property managers with information about techniques they can implement for indoor water conservation; drip irrigation; new water conservation technologies; “cycle and soak”; lawn care during drought or water restrictions; proper plant selections; foundation watering; tree watering; and irrigation scheduling.

This program is designed for apartment managers, large-facility managers, commercial property managers, landscaping companies and others whose responsibilities include water use and conservation, which also helps control costs.

Why is home energy performance (both the need for and source of energy) important and who thinks so? What's likely to be inefficient, unhealthy, or dangerous in homes that most people don't know about or underestimate? Why is it important, and what's the best way to prioritize and implement energy upgrades and retrofits for existing homes prior to installing active solar or wind? Do "green homes" sell faster or for more money? What are some examples of progress and challenges as the residential market transforms to green building/retrofitting in North Texas? Solarize Garland’s purpose is to bring PV solar rooftop power to Garland. It is modeled on the Solarize approach that is rolling out nationally and has been successfully implemented in Plano.

Arbor Day event, Earth Day celebration and a home and garden show featuring more than 70 booths with tree and plant sales, gardening products, landscaping services and home improvement items. 

There will also be resources and information for individuals looking to improve their home and community, with an emphasis on sustainable or "green" practices and local, Denton-based businesses. 

Also there will be children’s environmental exhibits and activities, a live TRASHion Runway show, live music, educational workshops and festival foods. Free.

Festival hosted by the city of Plano at the Shops at Legacy features speakers, demonstrations, hands-on activities, entertainment and a green art show.

New this year, butterfly bike rides from the Austin Bike Zoo. There will also be a mountain bike track and an instrument petting zoo.
