City of Dallas Water Utilities, city of Dallas Stormwater Management, city of Dallas Park & Recreation, Texas AgriLife Extension, the Dallas County Master Gardeners and the Town of Addison are teaming up with surrounding cities to demonstrate the beauty of Water-Wise and EarthKind gardening with the 18th annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour.

AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment (COTE), USGBC North Texas, and the CSI Dallas Chapter are partnering to showcase the latest green building products and technologies for commercial and residential use. 

NTX Sustainable Showcase is for architects, engineers, interior designers, developers, contractors, owners, facilities managers and others interested in the sustainable building industry. This event will provide panel presentations with experts in the industry who will review why to choose healthy materials, how they affect designs, and how to implement in projects.

Cost: $100 ($90/AIA, CSI and USGBC members) and $45/students.

The North Texas Renewable Energy Group hosts Bill Neukrantz, EE, MBA, who will speak on "Cutting Your Energy Costs in Half - Top 10 Steps." He'll cover lighting, monitoring solutions, building envelope improvement, heating and cooling systems and renewable energy implementation. Free and open to the public.

Joe and Tracy Self with guest landscape designer Ange Harvey will talk about yard art as shared culture and folk art. Free.

Gecko Hardware, an eco-friendly True Value store, is hosting its grand opening with demonstrations and workshops, including an appearance by organic gardening guru Howard Garrett. See Green Source DFW story.

Network and learn about green living and green businesses in DFW with environmentally conscious folk. $1.

Annual festival dating back to the 1930s, featuring local vendors selling trees and plants, gardening products, landscaping and home improvement items. In addition, there will be workshops, children's environmental activities, a recycled fashion show  and festival foods. Free.

Plastics entrepreneur Jeff Drummond will share about his project, which is making use of existing plastics to create 100 percent recycled and biodegradable products.

Learn how to conserve water and protect the environment. Tour Upper Trinity’s Water-Wise Demonstration Garden, visit educational booths and get to know your sprinkler system. The garden and booths will be open 9 a.m. to noon. A “Get to Know Your Sprinkler System” class will be offered 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration for the class is required.
