Treehouse is an environmentally-friendly home improvement store that went a major step above and beyond. Their new store in Dallas is described in news reports as "the world's first energy-positive" home improvement store. It means the facility generates ALL of its own energy using solar panels, and then some. 100 percent of the store's electricity needs are met by solar energy, with daily excess fed back to the utility grid to be used by others.

The annual Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards honors North Texas' green businesses, professionals, organizations, nonprofits and volunteers.
