Documentary, produced by Dallas-based Dolphin Blue, “Cry Heard ‘Round the World: The Journey to DC to Take a Stand for Mother Earth,” follows college students and other Texans on a bus trip to Washington, DC for the largest climate rally in the history of the United States to protest the Keystone XL pipeline. The documentary also chronicles the effects of the pipeline on ordinary people. Limited seating. Reservations required on website. Free.

The 2014 Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards are presented by the Memnosyne Institute to recognize people and groups in the DFW area for their exceptional leadership in the enhancement and protection of the environment. There are five categories:

  • Grass Roots Non-Profit Group or Organization
  • Volunteer
  • Entrepreneur
  • Environmental Non-Profit Professional (for example, executive director or city employee )
  • Business / Corporate Environmental Professional (individual)

The grass roots non-profit organization or group selected will receive a $500 contribution. In the other four categories, $250 will be donated to the nonprofit group of their choice.

Dallas City Council hosts a public hearing on the gas drilling ordinance before its final vote on it. 

Environmental groups are urging residents to attend this hearing to ensure a strong ordinance is passed.
