Harp Seals DFW, in cooperation with the North Texas Energy and Environment Club, presents a free public screening of "A Sealed Fate?"

Filmed on the ice floes of Canada's North Atlantic coast, this documentary exposes the cruel annual slaughter of hundreds of thousands of harp seal pups.

Parking is available at meters along Hickory St. (north of the EESAT building) and at the parking garage at Union Circle and Welch Street. For more info, contact brian@harpsealsdfw.org.

Screening of the movie "Grow!" by Slow Money, a non-profit dedicated to building and supporting the local sustainable food system. Free but donations requested.

Grow! is a great introduction to local farming issues and why people choose to farm, the rewards and the sacrifices. Two film makers spent an entire growing season with 20 farmers and two apprentices on 12 different farms in Georgia. This is their story.

There is parking located along Jefferson which is surprisingly quiet after 6pm as well as two lots close to the theater. The first one is located in the Bank of Texas in between Zang and Madison along Centre street. The second lot is located behind the theater on Sunset avenue also between Madison and Zang. This is generally an overflow lot that we use for valet services when needed, Jefferson is usually sufficient for most performances.

Please join us for our Lone Star State premiere of Vegucated in association with the Texas State Veggie Fair.

Our writer-director, Marisa Miller Wolfson, will be in attendance for a Q&A afterwards.

Vegucated is a feature-length documentary that follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. Lured by tales of weight lost and health regained, they begin to uncover the hidden sides of animal agriculture that make them wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. Before long, they find themselves risking everything to expose an industry they supported just weeks before. But can their convictions carry them through when times get tough?

This accessible, entertaining documentary showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who share one journey and ultimately discover their own paths in creating a kinder, cleaner, greener world, one bite at a time.

Imagine that a storm blows across your garden and that now, without your knowledge or
consent, genetically modified seeds are in your vegetable patch which you have nourished for
many years. A few days later, a multi-national corporation demands that you surrender your
vegetables -- and files a criminal complaint against you, resulting in a large fine for the illegal
use of genetically modified seeds. And the court rules in favor of the corporation!

David Versus Monsanto is a movie that tells how Monsanto terrorized innocent family
farmers, and how one farmer stood up to Monsanto. It raises the question: What responsibility
do biotech companies have to farmers whose fields they contaminate with genetically modified
organisms (GMOs)?

Everyone is welcome. You don't have to be a Sierra Club member.
