This will be a free screening of the documentary King Corn at Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth. (The following is taken from the website of the documentary King Corn)

King Corn is a Peabody-winning feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. In the film, Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America’s most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat—and how we farm.

THE YES MEN FIX THE WORLD is a screwball true story about two gonzo political activists who, posing as top executives of giant corporations, lie their way into big business conferences and pull off the world's most outrageous pranks. From New Orleans to India to New York City, armed with little more than cheap thrift-store suits, the Yes Men squeeze raucous comedy out of all the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet. About the film:

"A guilty New York liberal decides to practice what he preaches for one year.  He turns off the electricity, stops making garbage, gives up TV, taxis and take-out, and becomes a walking, bicycling, composting, tree hugging, polar bear saving, local food-eating citizen, all while taking his baby daughter and caffeine-obsessed, television-addicted wife along with him."

Geoff (Jeff) Lawton has made an excellent teaching DVD. He covers everything from sustainable strategies for urban gardening to water tanks to aquaponics to rocket stoves to mini-swales to urban design and more! Just as Permaculture is intensive gardening, this video is intensive teaching. Since 1985, Lawton has undertaken a large number of jobs consulting, designing, teaching and implementing Permaculture systems in over 30 different countries around our planet. He certainly knows his Permaculture and how to teach it.

Video is slightly over 90 minutes long.
