An environmental group or organization

Erich Neubert from the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center (http://www.bpraptorcenter.org/) will explain their work and bring several birds of prey to show at our meeting. The Blackland Prairie Raptor center is a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental preservation through public education and the conservation of birds of prey in their natural habitat. With non-releasable raptor ambassadors, BPRC introduces its visitors to the habitats of Texas and the unique characteristics of birds of prey.

The best time for gardening in North Texas is from September until June. You can have fresh tomatoes from your garden for Christmas dinner! Dr. Larry Legg will present a scientific and observational approach for gardening during fall and winter. Larry is a biology professor, master gardener, master naturalist, master wellness volunteer and a conflict resolution specialist.  He is a country boy from the boondocks where if you did not have a successful garden, you went hungry.

Family friendly event with a focus on its ecofriendly exhibitors and education. More than forty vendors will showcase their green products and services. Classes and demonstrations on environmental awareness will take place throughout the day. Ecofest Arlington will also have many children's activities including games, crafts and educational presentations. The city will be giving away trees while supplies last. Free.

World's largest eco-fest featuring hundreds of green organizations and businesses, speakers, films, food and kid's activities. Free.

Rachel Richter, DFW Urban Wildlife Biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife, will speak on Teaming with Wildlife, a national coalition of businesses and organizations committed to restoring and conserving our native wildlife. The goal of Teaming with Wildlife is to find sustainable funding to support wildlife conservation and management efforts. Recently, significant developments have created the potential to secure $1.3 billion annually to fund state-based conservation efforts. Come and find out how you can help participate in one of the biggest “wins” in conservation history.

Conor and Mason Puckett hiked from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific Crest Trail from June 28 to Oct. 28, 2015. Traversing the "Crest" of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, they endured blistering heat, freezing cold, physical and mental anguish and even a little bit of fun. Okay, a lot of fun. This presentation will cover some of what goes into the planning and execution of a thru-hike, as well highlights along the way.

Environmental food and music festival promoting environmentally friendly practices and ways of life.There will be free entertainment, shirts, tie-dye and Chipotle all located at the northern portion of the boulevard close to the flagpole.

This is a day of beautifying the Trinity River Corridor and working alongside corporate and community volunteers at Moore Park Gateway. Volunteers do not need to sponsor to participate and they don’t have to be a part of a corporation. Sign up on the website link.
