Founded in 1995 at UNT, TXSER is heading back to Denton to hold the annual conference in the beautiful Environmental Education, Science and Technology building. Conference will feature informal networking, outdoor learning and fun. Ken Steigman, director and research scientist at Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, is the keynote speaker. Early registration runs through the end of September.  

Brett Cease, regional coordinator of the national non-profit and non-partisan group Citizens’ Climate Lobby Third Coast division, will be coming to Collin County to start a Citizens’ Climate Lobby Group. 

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a grassroots citizens lobbying organization that empowers citizens to break through the myth that we can’t make a difference!

Join us for a day of beer and fun. $20 gets you a souvenir pint glass and 3 beers. The club keeps half the proceeds for a fundraiser. Just identify yourself at the door as being with the Sierra Club.

Paul Hawken, the editor of the New York Times best seller Drawdown, discusses Project Drawdown, a broad coalition of researchers, scientists, graduate students, PhDs, post-docs, policy makers, business leaders and activists to assemble and present the best available information on climate solutions in order to describe their beneficial financial, social and environmental impact over the next thirty years.

Community Clean up will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Giveways, lunch, prizes for volunteers.

Recycling and Environmental fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recycling for e-waster, batteries, clothes, textiles, housewares. Document shredding for FM residents. Kids' activities. Free.

Women in the Environment’s annual networking breakfast. You will have an opportunity to share your story, your product, your business cards and your passion for the environment with other like-minded women (and men).  Non-members are invited, too, but only members will have the opportunity to share their information. Walk the gardens after the breakfast.

Presenter is Dr. Al Armendariz, who heads the Beyond Coal initiative for the Lone Star Sierra Club.

The annual Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards honors North Texas' green businesses, professionals, organizations, nonprofits and volunteers. 

This year's honorary speaker is Lee Stetson as John Muir.
