The Benefits of Trees: Creating A Canopy in Dallas’ District 11

Please join the Dallas Sierra Club as we welcome Colleen Murray, Dallas Environmental Commissioner for District 11 and Trail Captain for the North Haven Trail, as she discusses her endeavors to increase and maintain the tree canopy in her district and beyond.

Colleen’s passion for protecting trees in the Dallas area and throughout North Texas drives her to share the multitude of benefits to ourselves and our neighborhoods by increasing tree plantings everywhere. As a vital part of a healthy environment, trees isolate carbon and reduce the concentration of greenhouse gasses. Some studies also show that trees have a beneficial physical response in humans by slowing heartbeats, lowering blood pressure, and relaxing brain wave patterns.
