Lights Out Texas: Fall Migration (Aug. 15 - Nov. 30)

Lights Out Texas is a campaign to turn off lights at night between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. during spring and fall wildbird migrations to help protect nocturnally migrating birds.

Originally launched in 2017 by Houston Audubon, Lights Out Texas has grown statewide and is facilitated by Audubon Texas in collaboration with conservation non-profits, universities, governmental organizations and Texans dedicated to the conservation of birds.

The full fall migration starts Aug. 15 and ends on Nov. 30.
The peak fall migration is Sept. 6 through Oct. 29.

George W. Bush Presidential Center: Native Texas Park Tours - Dallas (Sept 30 - Nov. 18)

The 15-acre Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park is open daily for self-guided tours from sunrise until sunset 365 days a year. Pets are welcome. Embark on either a self-guided or group tour through the beautiful and sustainable park, building and grounds.

Guided tours will be available for free every Saturday at 10 a.m. starting Sept. 30 through Nov. 18. Weather permitting.

Tours begin in the Freedom Plaza by the fountain.

An immersive experience combining choral music with digital art projections to tell stories of at-risk species.

A 55-minute concert of Sarah Kirkland Snider’s acclaimed Mass for the Endangered, Edie Hill’s Spectral Spirits, and 3 locally commissioned world premieres about threatened Texas species. Sixteen singers and 10 instrumentalists will perform within The Dallas Contemporary stark industrial space as Courtney Ware's stunning AI-generated visuals animate a towering 110-foot wall, vividly enhancing the musical call to urgent conservation action.

UPDATE: PRAIRIE FESTIVAL AT TWELVE HILLS CANCELLED

We're sorry to tell you that because of inclement weather expected on Sunday afternoon, we decided the Prairie Festival at Twelve Hills has to be CANCELLED. The snakes, owls and raptors don't do well in cold, windy rainy conditions, the pollinators won't be out flying, and the trails will be too wet to hike. We won't reschedule this in 2023, but probably will next fall.
