Lights Out Texas: Fall Migration (Aug. 15 - Nov. 30)

​Lights Out Texas is a campaign to turn off lights at night between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. during spring and fall wildbird migrations to help protect nocturnally migrating birds.

Originally launched in 2017 by Houston Audubon, Lights Out Texas has grown statewide and is facilitated by Audubon Texas in collaboration with conservation non-profits, universities, governmental organizations and Texans dedicated to the conservation of birds.

The full fall migration starts Aug. 15 and ends on Nov. 30.
The peak fall migration is Sept. 6 through Oct. 29.

Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community. Choose among hundreds of local nonprofits to donate to, including dozens of environmental and animal welfare groups. Matching funds are used to encourage donations. Early donations welcome too.

Sisterhood Hikes: Co-Ed Hike - Fort Worth

September is such a busy month for the hiking groups that the only date available to get in another coed hike is Labor Day weekend so hopefully a lot of you are in town and can hit us up at Eagle Mountain Lake September 2 8:45 AM hike start time 9 AM.

After the hike we’re planning on doing lunch together at The Lakehouse.

We will meet at the pavilion which is near the trail head start. Sign in, get a raffle drawing ticket. We will do a group picture at 9 a.m. and start the hike!

Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary announces the return of Dinosaurs Live! from Sept. 2, 2023 through Feb. 19, 2024. This seasonal, annual exhibit brings these ancient creatures back to life, allowing visitors to let their imagination run wild as they travel back in time along a half-mile nature trail with ten life-size animatronic dinosaurs. 

During the 18th Annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-Size Animatronic Dinosaurs exhibit, these animatronic dinosaurs will move and roar and are showcased in a natural environment, providing an experience sure to captivate visitors. This exhibit will also offer interesting facts about both herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. 

Children and the young at heart can also play on stationary baby dinosaurs and photo-op dinosaurs. This year's exhibit will also feature an outdoor fossil dig to inspire future paleontologists. The Dinosaurs Live! exhibit trail is jogging-stroller friendly (umbrella strollers are not recommended), giving families and friends a unique, exciting and educational activity to experience together.
