Lights Out Texas is a campaign of education, awareness, and action that focuses on turning out lights at night during the spring and fall migrations to help protect the billions of migratory birds that fly over Texas annually.

Lights Out Texas advocates say darkening city skies is most crucial during spring migration's peak.

  • Full Migration Period: March 1 – June 15 

  • Critical Peak Migration Period: April 22 – May 12

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, Plano's largest park, is 800 acres and extends from Parker Road on the south to Chaparral Road on the north and from Spring Creek Parkway on the west to Los Rios Boulevard on the east. The park boasts five miles of soft surface trails located along Rowlett Creek in addition to concrete trails and many amenities. Nature trails are open from sunrise to sunset daily.

Jeff will be searching for Whorled Silene (Silene stellata) also called Starry Silene and Whorled Catchfly.

Liveable Arlington: New Gas Wells Public Hearing and Final Vote - Arlington

​Total Energies received approval on a first vote for a Special Use permit to drill and frack new gas wells at their Fulson site, located at 5720 S. Watson Road in Arlington.

The City Council voted 8-1 in favor of granting a SUP (special use permit) on 5/23/2023.

A second reading, hearing and final vote on the SUP will take place on June 13, 2023 before Arlington City Council.

Residents can speak for 3 minutes in opposition in both hearings, or sign a card in opposition and raise their hand when their name is called, or send an email in opposition.

As president of Texas Association of Professional Bee Removers, past president of Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association in Dallas and of Metro Beekeepers Association in Fort Worth, Ryan lives and breathes all things bees and will keep the presentation "buzzing" and packed with interesting information for beekeepers and non-beekeepers alike!
