Applications for the Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas grant are due Feb. 1.

The small grants are awarded to nature centers, schools, educational groups and others to help fund monarch demonstration gardens or monarch waystations using native plants on public sites in Texas.

Did you know that most insects depend on at least one microbe for their nutrition and survival? Dr. Alison Ravenscraft will lead ACC on a tour through the little known but vast and fascinating world of insect-microbe symbioses, focusing on how microbes help insects eat plants. She will discuss examples that involve native plants and insects you've probably seen in your backyard. You'll never see a bug the same way again!

From Liveable Arlington: The EPA recently issued an updated draft rule to cut methane and other harmful emissions from new and existing oil and gas operations. The proposed rule builds on the draft released in 2021 and incorporates community feedback, an important step toward further safeguarding public health and addressing the emissions that affect climate change.
