Lights Out Texas is an intiative launched by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with support from nonprofits including the Texas Conservation Alliance and Texan by Nature to raise awareness about the dangers of light pollution for migrating birds. 

The program asks homeowners, businesses and managers of tall buildings to eliminate or reduce lighting between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the peak of the fall migration, Sept. 6 to Oct. 29, 2022.

The theme of the 17th annual Autumn at the Arboretum is A Fall Fairy Tale.

The fall festival features more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash from the Pumpkin Capital of Texas, Floydada.  A Fall Fairy Tale showcases the return of Cinderella’s carriage, along with themed pumpkin houses that make up the acclaimed Pumpkin Village. Other “gourd-eous” displays showcase classic tales of Jack and The Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and The Sword in the Stone and even a magic carpet ride selfie experience from One Thousand and One Nights.
