Lights Out Texas is an intiative launched by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with support from nonprofits including the Texas Conservation Alliance and Texan by Nature to raise awareness about the dangers of light pollution for migrating birds. 

The program asks homeowners, businesses and managers of tall buildings to eliminate or reduce lighting between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the peak of the fall migration, Sept. 6 to Oct. 29, 2022.

        Sept. 10 at Lake Bridgeport

        Sept. 17 at Eagle Mountain Lake

        Sept. 17 at Trinity River in Fort Worth

        Sept. 24 at Cedar Creek Lake

Promise of Peace Gardens will serve up its signature music and food festival with 10 top chefs, including last years Okrapalooza champion Olivia Lopez. There will be live music by Mack Price, Jr. and a silent auction. Beer and wine included in ticket price. Children under 12 are free. Benefits new garden in East Dallas and food farm in West Dallas.

Texas Native Cats: Bobcats Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation - Online

Established in 1977 by Lynn Cuny, Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation receives over 10,000 wild animals per year for rehabilitation and release as well as providing permanent sanctuary for more than 600 resident non-releasable indigenous wildlife, non-native wildlife and farmed animals.

Lynn Cuny will present the history WRR has with bobcats, why they are its logo and what befalls them in captivity, as well as the conditions they are in when brought to WRR. Additionally, she’ll discuss their care during the rehabilitation process as well as their lives in sanctuary at WRR.
