The Nature Conservancy: Clymer Meadow Preserve Tours - Celeste (April 23-June 18)

Walk among the wildflowers during our Spring Tours of the Clymer Meadow Preserve. Don’t miss your chance to visit this picturesque 1,450-acre preserve, which contains one of the last remnants of the Blackland Prairie— an imperiled ecosystem comprised of numerous bird, butterfly and wildflower species. You’ll immerse yourself in the beauty and color of true Texas prairie while learning about the history and ecology of our native grasslands. Grab your binoculars and camera, pack a picnic lunch, and get back to nature.

You have four opportunities to visit the Preserve:

9 a.m. - April 23 – Celebrate Earth Day on the Prairie!    RSVP by 4/18
9 a.m. - May 14 – Dickcissel Spring Tour    RSVP by 5/9
9 a.m. - May 21 – Spring Wildflower Tour (36th Year!)   RSVP by 5/16
8 a.m. - June 18 – Prairie Rose Tour    RSVP by 6/13

Tours will meet at different locations – information will be sent with RSVP confirmation. We recommend wearing a hat, long pants and closed-toed shoes. You may also wish to bring insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, binoculars, camera, lunch, and a water bottle. Tours are rain or shine!

Native Prairies Association of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: Fossil Hill Hike - Bowie

See a prime example of an ancient Western Cross Timbers forest, with prairie openings. Slopes and ridges are covered in numerous Pennsylvanian strata with rocks and gravel at the surface. The topography is hilly, with elevations from 1,050 feet at the top of the hill along the ridge, to 920 feet at the lake. 

Meet in Decatur at the TXDOT rest area, approximately 2-3 miles northwest of the intersection of Highway 287 and Loop 380. Meet in front of the restrooms. We will leave the TXDOT rest area promptly at 8:30 a.m., so please be prompt and on time. It is approximately a 30-minute drive to Fossil Hill From Decatur.

If you want to bring a lunch or snacks, we will eat lunch afterwards at her house in the screened in porch.

*Reservations are required through Eventbrite. Suggested donation of $5 or any amount you wish to donate to assist NPAT with future programming & outreach events (plus EventBrite processing fee). The limit is 12 people, with a maximum of 6 cars, due to parking limitations. Trinity Coalition: Ned and Genie Fritz Texas Buckeye Trail Volunteer Work Day - Dallas

Please join us in re-establishing this beautiful Great Trinity Forest trail to the lovely grove of Texas Buckeyes! Third Saturday of the month Feb 2022 thru Aug 2022.
This event is co-sponsored by: Trinity Coalition, North Texas Master Naturalists (NTMN), Bonton Neighborhood Association, Bonton Farms and Boy Scouts of America Troop #914.

Following direction from Dallas Parks & Recreation (DPR) and the Trinity Coalition Beautification Agreement:
Reestablish and maintain three segments of the Texas Buckeye trail soft surface loop. The trail is to be three feet wide to eliminate overgrowth on the trail.

Parking Lot Pop Up: Recycled Art - Dallas

Dallas Area Woodturners: Spring Extravaganza - Garland

Dallas Area Woodturners and North Texas Food Bank will team up to give a woodturned bowl as a thank you to each person or family who makes a monetary donation during the Spring Extravaganza event.

The North Texas Food Bank is a vital resource for the local community. Your monetary gift will go directly to the food bank to help provide children, seniors, and families access to the nutritious food they need to stay healthy.

In addition to the drive-through donation, a Bowl Makers’ Challenge will be held to see which two-man team can make the most woodturned bowls within a set amount of time. 

Meet the local Dallas woodturners. They are a talented and creative group of individuals who appreciate and respect every wood sample they turn to make one-of-a-kind pieces of art.

Lake Trails Preserve: Earth Ceremonies - Lancaster
