Lights Out Texas is a campaign of education, awareness, and action that focuses on turning out lights at night during the spring and fall migrations to help protect the billions of migratory birds that fly over Texas annually.

Lights Out Texas advocates say darkening city skies is most crucial during spring migration's peak, from April 22 to around May 12.

North Texas Unitarian Universalist Congregations: Ned Fritz Scholarship - Deadline May 1

Honoring long-time Unitarian Universalist and environmental activist Ned Fritz, these scholarships have been awarded to graduating high school seniors who attend a Unitarian Universalist congregation in North Texas. Meant for students who intend to study environmental subjects, or related fields, working toward a career focused on improving, protecting, or preserving the environment.

Explore Fort Worth Prairie habitat at U.S. Army Corps of Engineer property at Benbrook Lake.

Suggested donation of $5 per person or whatever amount you wish to contribute to Native Prairies Association of Texas.

Join us on this trip to a prime example of the Fort Worth Prairie. This prairie ecosystem is vanishing under rapid development pressure in Tarrant and surrounding counties. Luckily, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers protects upland Fort Worth Prairie overlooking the shoreline of Benbrook Lake. Native wildflowers should be starting to bloom by mid April.

Meet at 9 a.m. at the 2nd (southern) gravel parking lot. Bring sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots for a walk around a good example of a Fort Worth Prairie remnant.
