Dallas Blooms is the largest annual floral festival in the Southwest. Presented by Veritex Community Bank, Dallas Blooms will feature larger-than-life peacock topiaries along with more than 500,000 spring blooming bulbs to create the largest and most colorful floral display in the Southwest. An explosion of spring flowers comes from 100 varieties of spring bulbs, thousands of azaleas and hundreds of Japanese cherry trees.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden/BRIT: Butterflies in the Garden - Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden hosts the largest exhibit of live, exotic butterflies in north central Texas with the Butterflies in the Garden exhibit in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden’s Rainforest Conservatory.

Cost: Tickets for timed entrance are currently for sale online. Admission is $12 for ages 16-64; $10 for seniors (65+); $8 for ages 6-15; and free for children under five.

For those who want to visit both the Garden and the butterfly exhibit, the price is $18 for adults and seniors and $10 for children. 

School groups of 20 or more may purchase tickets in advance for $8 per person. FWBG|BRIT members receive a discounted price of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children.  

North Texas Unitarian Universalist Congregations: Ned Fritz Scholarship - Deadline May 1

Honoring long-time Unitarian Universalist and environmental activist Ned Fritz, these scholarships have been awarded to graduating high school seniors who attend a Unitarian Universalist congregation in North Texas. Meant for students who intend to study environmental subjects, or related fields, working toward a career focused on improving, protecting, or preserving the environment.

Friends of Oak Cliff Parks: Wildflower Walk - Dallas

Join us for a walk through the native prairie meadow at the Kiest Conservation Area in Oak Cliff. Our guide is former master naturalist, respected guest speaker on native plants and Studio Outside’s in-house horticultural expert, landscape architect Brian Halsell. The conservation area is an 88-acre tract of land with an island of native Texas prairie. 

Over 150 wildflower species were identified by master naturalist legend Jim Varnum seven years ago.  While you’re there, visit the newly opened mile long Meadow Loop Trail. Everyone is invited to attend, and there is no charge. Closed toed shoes are recommended. Water and insect repellant will be provided.

The parking area is in the field at the southeast corner of the intersection of Hampton Rd. and Keist Blvd. Park next to the kiosk.
