EPA: Draft Strategy to Reduce Lead Exposures and Disparities in U.S. Communities - Public Comment (Thru March 16)

On October 28, 2021, EPA released the draft Strategy to Reduce Lead Exposures and Disparities in U.S. Communities (Lead Strategy) for public comment. The agency is seeking input from communities affected by lead contamination through virtual workshops nationwide. 

EPA’s Lead Strategy will utilize the full suite of EPA authorities, expertise, and resources to reduce lead exposure. It outlines three significant ways the agency can reduce lead exposure in overburdened communities.

The EPA has extended the public comment period until March 16, 2022.

Dr. David Woody, III, is the President and CEO of The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center.

Located in the Farmers Market District of downtown Dallas and open 24 hours daily, the multi-service campus offers basic needs services, along with access to healthcare, income alternatives, and long-term housing. This “one-stop” concept lessens the need for transportation and alleviates frustration experienced by homeless individuals when accessing services. Our highly trained staff coordinates all on-site services and advocates for those experiencing homelessness from the point of entry until they are placed in housing.

As President and CEO, Dr. Woody is responsible for the provision of Day and Night Shelter to 800 City of Dallas homeless Guests daily, the facilitation of 100 employees work supporting the delivery of homeless centric services, and ensuring that the organization’s work and activities sustain a focus on reducing the incidence of homelessness in Dallas.

EPA: Region 6 Lead Strategy Listening Session - Zoom

The sessions will be an opportunity for you to provide verbal input on the draft Lead Strategy to EPA. We encourage you to share with the Agency thoughts on how to address lead issues in your communities during these regional sessions.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Is Seeking\Public Comment on the draft Strategy to Reduce Lead Exposures and Disparities in U.S.Communities. Please note, registration will be required to attend each session. When you register, you will also have an opportunity to sign up to provide verbal& comments. Interpretation and disability access support will be provided.

EPA will be hosting session in all 10 geographical areas and if you are unable to attend the session that is specific to your geographic area, EPA encourages you to register for another regional session.

Comments can also be provided in writing until March 16, 2022.
