The free event for Arlington residents provides an opportunity to recycle old and unused electronics such as PCs, gaming systems, laptops, hard drives, PC components, networking equipment, monitors, cables and a variety of other small office equipment. Household appliances or televisions cannot be accepted. For those items, residents can call 817-317-2000 to schedule a pickup.

Please note, electronics from businesses will not be accepted. See website for acceptable items.

Presenter: Georgeann Moss, Senior Director, Sustainability, Dallas College

Georgeann is the Senior Director of Sustainability for Dallas College. She is the founding director of the Sustainability area, which was created in November, 2017. However, she has led DCCCD's sustainability program as a volunteer since 2007, when she co-founded DCCCD's Sustainability Team.

Under Georgeann's sustainability leadership, Dallas College has transitioned to renewable energy, undertaken its first ever Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education ("AASHE") Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) report and is working to develop its first ever college-wide Resilience and Climate Action Plan. Her primary goal is for students to graduate from Dallas College with a “Sustainable Solutions” mindset.

About Our Presenter: Georgeann has an MBA in Management, and maintains a LEED Green Associate certification. She has been working side-by-side with North Texas environmental activists for more than 30 years both professionally and as a volunteer. She and her husband built the first “green” house in Sunnyvale, Texas, which is powered by renewable energy and they both drive hybrid electric vehicles. Her adult son is an environmental engineer. Sustainability is her job and her passion.

Texas Campaign for the Environment: Trash Makeover Challenge - Online

This year’s event is being held online for anyone to participate. It’s packed with so many fun details, music, guest judges, and a celebrity emcee — Kathy Valentine, member of the famed Go-Go’s and certified Austin rock’n’roll legend! 

On the virtual runway, our fashion designers are taking a walk on the wild side with looks featuring animal prints such as zebra stripes, feathers, and spots. Also be sure to start bidding in our online auction filled with unique items and special experiences from all across the state. One of our spotlight items is an autographed guitar from the Grammy-nominated band, Black Pumas.
