City of Fort Worth: Parks for Pollinators Bio Blitz - Fort Worth (Sept. 1-30)

Sep 1 2021 - 7:00am to Sep 30 2021 - 11:45pm
Fort Worth TX

The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is hosting a monthlong BioBlitz event as part of the national Parks for Pollinators campaign, which is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of pollinators and positioning parks as national leaders in advancing pollinator health and native habitat.

Organized by the National Recreation and Park Association and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz event is held annually.

Participants are invited to download and use an app called iNaturalist to take photos of plants, insects and animals in all Fort Worth parks during the BioBlitz this September. These reported observations contribute to a nationwide scientific inventory of pollinator species.

Submit photos of plants, insects and more, and the app and other citizen-scientists will tell you the name of those species.

North Texas Renewable Energy Group: 2021 DFW Solar Tour and Texas Solar Laws Update - Zoom

Sep 11 2021 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
Zoom TX

Join us this Saturday to learn more about the DFW Solar Tour and the new laws impacting (and benefiting!) solar energy in Texas!

Presentation #1: What is the "DFW Solar Tour"?  Every year, the first Saturday of October, NTREG organizes the DFW Solar Tour.  This is a free event where the public has an opportunity to learn about energy efficiency, solar energy, and in some cases alternative transportation.  Information is shared by the most qualified people possible - the owners themselves. Due to continuing public health issues, NTREG has again elected to conduct the 2021 DFW Solar Tour in a "virtual" environment - online. Presenter: Mark Witte, Chair of the 2021 DFW Solar Tour Committee

Presentation #2: In our second presentation, Rosa Orenstein, J.D., NTREG Chair, will give us an update on the new "solar" laws that passed the 2021 Texas Legislature and were signed into law by Governor Abbott.  These laws became effective on September 1, 2021, so Rosa's presentation is very timely.  Better yet, there's good news for the solar industry in the new laws! Presenter: Rosa Orenstein J.D., NTREG Chair
