The EPA will hold three virtual listening sessions to take public input on the Agency’s upcoming regulations for the Oil and Natural Gas Industry using a web conference platform.
These rules are critical for Arlington because of the large number of gas wells here, and because Total is drilling and fracking more gas wells next to preschools, homes, and medical offices. Please participate and represent our community. We will post more information on how this impacts us all soon.
The listening sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT over three days. Each day will focus on different stakeholder groups; however, you may register to speak on *any day*.
Tuesday, June 15, 2021: Focus on Industry and Non-Governmental Organizations
Wednesday, June 16, 2021: Focus on Communities, Environmental Justice Stakeholders and Tribes
Thursday, June 17, 2021: Focus on States, Local Governments and Small Businesses
REGISTER BY JUNE 9 HERE:

This special program looks at the important topic of how to bring fair treatment and meaningful involvement regarding environmental matters to all residents of Dallas regardless of where they live or their circumstances.
Within Dallas’ vast metropolitan area, many factors impact air quality not the least of which are the growing population and the burgeoning need for employment and transportation. What happens to the air? What happens to any remnant of our natural resources within this dynamic landscape? Jonna Polk, Director, Office of Communities, Tribes, and Environmental Assessment, EPA Region 6; joins us to speak on these topics.
Dr. Kathy Jack, Dallas healthy cities program director at The Nature Conservancy in Texas works on this balance as well. She oversees environmental technology, conservation and community health. And one of the programs she manages is Breathe Easy Dallas. It is designed in response to Environmental Justice concerns in our city.
We'll discuss environmental justice through the lens of race. Guests include Ernest McMillan, Dallas activist and winner of the Green Source DFW Environmental Justice Award in 2019. In addition, Collin Yarbrough, a graduate student at SMU’s Lyle School of Engineering, will talk about his work on the Environmental Injustice Archive, a collaborative project between Downwinders at Risk, SMU Sustainability and Development Program, Paul Quinn’s Urban Research Initiative, and the Clinton Global Initiative University. Others guests TBA.
