U.S. Fish & Wildlife: Monthly Bird Walk - SIGN UP!

Join a USFWS Bird Walk for naturalists of all ages who want hands-on education about North Texas birds. 

The birders will meet on Fridays or Saturdays at 8:45 a.m. and begin walking at 9 a.m.. We will be birding for about an hour. Locations will be in DFW, and emailed out prior to meeting. Small groups or families can also bird by appointment. 

Children 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants must wear a mask. We will be social distancing. Bring water and snacks, if needed. 

Bring bug spray, sunscreen, and a pencil if you would like. We will provide some binoculars, but if you have your own that’s great! A smartphone or camera is also very useful for birding.

Fort Worth staff will be attending the live online seminars in case you have questions pertaining specifically to Fort Worth outdoor irrigation restrictions and programs.

Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards - Zoom

The 9th annual Green Source DFW Sustainble Leadership Awards, hosted by Green Source DFW and its parent nonprofit, the Memnosyne Institue, honors outstanding green professionals, nonprofits, businesses and volunteers in North Texas selected by their peers. The awards will be held Nov. 12, 2020 at the Dallas Arboretum. See past winners.

The nominees were submitted by Green Source DFW readers. The winners were selected by a panel of judges from the North Texas green community. Winners will be announced at the awards.

The ceremony will take place on Nov. 12 on the Zoom webinar platform at 6: 30 p.m..

Fort Worth Audubon Society: Malaysia and Borneo's 'B' Birds - Zoom

Presentation by Dr. Doug Wood, professor of biological sciences at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, ornithologist, and worldwide birder/photographer.

Dr. Wood will present an audiovisual presentation via Zoom titled Malaysia and Borneo – All the “B” Birds and More.  The program will cover Dr. Wood’s birding trip to Malaysia and Borneo during the summer of 2019, including photos and video clips of birds, mammals, reptiles, habitat, as well as discussions regarding conservation issues, animal behavior and global birding. Questions and discussion welcome.
