ACTION ALERT! EPA Hearing on Methane Rule Repeal - Dallas

Oct 17 2019 - 8:00am to 6:00pm
Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse
75242 Red River Live Oak Conference Rooms 7th floor
Dallas , TX

From Public Citizen:

The EPA will hold a public hearing on the proposed policy amendments to existing New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for the Oil and Natural Gas Industry that affect methane standards.

The newly proposed Trump rule is a major gutting of NSPS requirements...This rule is particularly bad for Texas as we are the leading oil and gas producer in the nation - and unlike some states like Pennsylvania and Colorado, we have no state-specific standards to control methane pollution...We need [environmentalists] at this meeting... You don’t need to be an expert to comment on this rule rollback, just care enough to say these rules don’t safeguard you or your family...Unbelievably, the Dallas event is the ONLY hearing in the country. Written comments can be submitted here on or before Nov. 25 to the EPA.

More Info: Rita Beving, Public Citizen, [email protected] or 214-557-2271

Assigned speaking times available through Oct. 14.  To sign up to speak at the hearing, go here

To learn more about the proposed rules go here.

For questions regarding oral testimony at the hearing, you can also contact EPA rep Virginia Hunt no later than October 14, 2019, [email protected] (preferred) or 919-541-0832.

North Central Texas Council of Governments: Car Care Clinics - Hurst, Plano, Dallas (Oct. 17-25)

Oct 17 2019 - 10:00am to Oct 25 2019 - 11:00am
See locations above TX

Is the check engine light on in your car? When it lights up, it is natural to get concerned about what might be wrong. In October, there will be a resource to help you diagnose the problem.

NCTCOG is partnering with local automotive repair facilities in North Texas to conduct a series of Car Care Clinics. An illuminated check engine light means your vehicle will not pass the annual Texas emissions inspection, which is required to get it registered. The free clinics will provide opportunities to speak with certified technicians about problems and how they may be addressed. The issues may cost less than you think to repair. Maybe your gas cap is bad and needs to be replaced.

The clinics are not just for motorists trying to diagnose engine issues. They will also offer free multipoint inspections to anyone who attends.

Regular maintenance helps ensure vehicles run more efficiently, which improves air quality and can save consumers money in the long term. North Texas continues to work toward compliance of the federal government’s ozone standards, and the clinics offer a way for residents to be a part of the effort
