Film Screening: "Beyond Pollution"

The Fort Worth Botanical Garden is hosting a film
screen of Beyond Polution tonight in Ft. Worth, starting at 7:00pm. BP may have settled recently, agreeing to pay massive sums for the damage their negligence did to the U.S. Gulf Coast. But while that account may be settled in the eyes of Uncle Sam, a lot of the damage still remains."Beyond Pollution" examines the "environmental, economic and humanitarian impacts of the BP oil spill". Hosted tonight in Ft. Worth, the producer Harper Robinson will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the film.

 Tons of Tomatos

First, the bad news. This event, happening this Saturday from 9-11am, will not be a tomato tossing free for all. Not that that would be appropriate for a green news site necessarily, but there's not denying it was my first thought. The good news? Garden writer and tomato grower Tom Hunt will be on hand at the Dallas Arboretum this Saturday to teach you how to start and raise your tomato
garden. Topics on hand will be the varieties of tomatos best suited for Dallas Ft. Worth, how and when to plant, and how to get the most out of your gardens. The icing on the cake is the admission you get to the Dallas Arboretum. Given that North Texas is due for another warm Saturday, that sounds like a wonderful stroll. The event is $27 for non-members and $25 for members.

Common Sense Design

It's going to be a busy weekend at the Dallas Arboretum. Running from 12-2pm, Common Sense Design  will provide lessons on incorporating into your garden perennials, flowering shrubs, and edibles that are beautiful throughout the year. You'll also learn how to foster the presence of wildlife in your garden and selecting plants that are easy to maintain.
