When Heather Rinaldi gets a notion, you better watch out! The founder of Texas Worm Ranch got the idea that the green community needed a place where environmental groups could have classses, meetings and events. The idea emerged that nonprofit environmental groups and sustainable businesses might also locate there. With fellow environmentalist Steve Clary the publisher of Lake Highlands Today and horticulturist Randy Johnson, she searched for such a space, and they found it, 6,000 square feet of an abandon former Piggly Wiggly store near White Rock Lake (photo Randy Johnson, Heather Rinaldi and Steve Clary.)
The founding members of the Dallas Eco-Op met on Thursday, January 5th and closed the deal to rent the space and start turning it into the Dallas Eco-op, a center for environmental activities. Current co-operative members include:
Heather Rinaldi
Steve Clary
Randy Johnson
Bruce Bagelman
Green Source DFW / Phillip Shinoda
White Rock Local Market
Recycle Revolution
Grow North Texas
Clean Air Lawn Care
Texas Honey Bee Guild
Texas Worm Ranch

Below are pictures of the space for events which has room for about 100 and the work / display space of members of the co-op. Think of the pictures as the "before" Lots of work still to be done to get to "after".
