One of the first steps to a great garden is knowing the quality of the soil in which the plants will be growing. Irving has a variety of soils, from sandy loam to clay. Most soils require amending to accommodate a vegetable garden and even a garden flourishing with our most favorite native blooms. This class will help students know what steps to take to determine their soil type, how to garden in a variety of soil conditions and how to remediate poor soil in preparation for the spring planting season.
