ARCSA Level 300
Rainwater Harvesting Design and Construction Workshop

June 28-29, 2012

ARCSA's Design and Construction Workshops (DCW) are open to the public, or any industry professional looking to learn more about rainwater harvesting. For anyone seeking the ARCSA Certified Professional designation, this course is a requirement. The DCWs are two day courses designed to give attendees a chance to put their knowledge into practice in designing and constructing an active rainwater collection system. Participants will develop a design plan, site plan, calculate sizing and material to use, and then following through with the step-by-step construction of one or more complete systems by the end of the 2 days. The process will begin at the gutter and follow through various parts going into the storage tank and out through the pump. Screens, first flush diversions, calming inlet, floating intakes, make-up water, overflow, above and below ground tanks, backflow prevention, connections, pumps, filters and UV disinfection will be installed during this workshop. Start-up procedures, operation and maintenance will be performed and a user's manual for the client will be developed along with warning signage, precautions, and warnings. There will be a minimal amount of classroom work covering codes and regulations, developing plans, handling calculations, reviewing some of the components of the system and developing a start-up, operation and maintenance manual for the client.

Please note that the exact times and topic order may vary slightly with each specific workshop. Relevant handouts or presentations will be provided on-site. Tools, supplies and material will be provided. It is recommended that participants bring a laptop computer capable of using Excel and calculator along with work clothes. Lunch and snacks will be included. The completion of a Level 200 course is recommended as calculations, material and use of specific parts learned from this course will be put into practice in this workshop. This workshop is one of the requirements for attaining the ARCSA Certified Professional recognition. Besides this workshop individuals must also accumulate 48 hours of approved 300 level training course hours and then pass an ARCSA Certified Professional Exam in order to attain the ARCSA Certified Professional designation. Click Here for a Tentative Agenda.
